All Change June 26, 2006

Well in some areas it is,…………….

I have been released from the bishopric and have been given a new role in the Church.  I have been asked to serve on the Stake High Council with responsibility for Family History and also another unit in the Stake. As one of my areas is family history it seems appropriate to mention that we have been working on a family history section for our website for a little bit now, the beta release can be found at familyhistory.thegilmours.net.  I was waiting until we had some more info before putting a link on the website but now is as good a time as any.

and in some areas it might be………………………….  we hope we have sold the house and we have found a place we like, so hopefully it will all happen…..

Hope you are enjoying our new diary March 6, 2006

Hope you are enjoying the new version of the diary.  We are going to be making some changes to the layout in the next couple of weeks which will be part of a complete revamp of www.thegilmours.net including a brand new picture gallery and the addition of a guestbook.

I am aware that some of the links on the existing video and picture gallery at http://gallery.thegilmours.net are out of date and no longer function but I am working on this and these will be resolved with the launch of the new site.  Some of the shutterfly links have been repaired and I have posted them in the diary.

If there is anything else you would like to see on the site then please let us know.

An Evening at the theatre February 20, 2006

First evening off in a while for Lisa as I took her to see the RSC in London performing A Midsommer Nights Dream at the Novello theatre. (formally the Strand Theatre).  We went with some of my friends from work and their partners.  It was a really good evening.  Grandma and Granddad B kindly agreed to babysit all 4 children and arrived about 2.30pm which meant that Lisa and I could zip off to Winchester to catch the train into London.  It was a pleasant journey in which gave us both time to sort out things we needed to do for Sunday, Lisa completed her Lesson and I sorted out my talk.  When we got to Waterloo we met up with the others and went off to Theatre themed restaurant and then headed off to the theatre for the performance.  It was an excellent performance as one would expect from the RSC and we had a thoroughly enjoyable evening.  We got back just after midnight and found Heather cuddled up to Grandma B totally relaxed, all 4 children had been really good all evening so made Lisa feel really good.  A really good night out.

Mark’s been in the wars February 1, 2006

Well on Monday 30th Jan, Mark was on his bike on the way back from dropping the people carrier off at the garage when his front wheel came off his bike, well that’s what we’ve been told as he doesn’t remember a thing of the accident. Fortunately Mark was wearing his cycle helmet which saved any major injuries but he did have some pretty severe cuts and grazes to his face and bit through his tongue (this required 5 stitches which was pretty gruesome to watch) and also a heafty bout of concussion.

Don't let him ride a bikeSo that is supposed to explain the memory loss!!!  Thankfully someone stopped on the road when he had the accident and brought Mark back home, it took 20 minutes though before Mark could tell him where he lived and then we whisked him off to the doctors and then to A&E where they took him straight in and had a good look over him.  They did make him eat which was very painful as he had an open wound on his tongue.  It was after that, that they decided to stitch it.  Thankfully Sarah, our student assistant who has been working with us for a little while now was on hand to watch after the children and take Scott & Elizabeth to school and then entertain Emily for most of the day.  So Sarah is truly a star in our household now.

After a couple of hours in A&E we brought Mark home and he has been off work for a couple of days to recover.

Motor Show, Scott’s first hike June 13, 2004

Sunday 13th June 2004

Now it has been a busy couple of weeks since the beginning of June.  Right at the beginning of the month, Granddad B, Scott and Daddy went to the British Motor Show at the Birmingham NEC.  As you can see Scott had a really good time trying out all the cars.  He really liked the MG supercar that they let him sit in.  But his favourite was the Aston Martin stand.  The gentleman on the stand came up to him and asked him which car was his favourite.  He pointed to the new DB9 convertible. To which he replied, a fine choice and handed him a special DB9 key ring and told him to use it when he is 17.  Somehow we think he will want too!!!!
After the motor show, Mummy picked Daddy and Scotty up to drive on to Scotland to visit Grandma and Granddad C.  We arrived very late in the night and woke up in Grandma & Granddad C’s new house in Biggar. On the first day we went to Lanark Loch to play in the park and climb the trees, you can see the pictures by clicking here.  As you can see from the pictures we had a lot of fun playing on the swings and climbing trees.  Granddad C kept falling off the log we were all balancing on, it was very funny.   Also while we were in Scotland we went to visit Aunty Claire and Uncle David who live in Edinburgh.  It was Uncle David’s birthday and so we had a little party for him after  we went to Church with them on the Sunday.  Daddy, Scotty and Granddad C went hiking as well to the top of Tinto Hill (at 2320 feet) which overlooks Granddad’s house.  You can see the pictures here. When we got to the top we all sat down for our food and took some pictures.  What we didn’t realise was that one of the batteries and memory cards for Daddy’s camera fell out of his rucksack.  We realised this when we stopped for break ¾ of the way back down.  So Daddy had to go back to the top.  It took us 2 hours to get to the top the first time and we were an hour back down when we spotted the camera equipment had fallen out.  Daddy ran all the way back up and met Granddad and Scott back down near the bottom a hour later.  Unfortunately Daddy couldn’t walk properly for three days afterwards; he is not as young or as fit as he would like to think!!!!! J  But it was a very fun day and Scotty’s first hike, and a Graham mountain as well, (a hill 2000-2499 feet).
Yesterday Mummy and Daddy went to Tim and Kate’s wedding, while they were there, Nikki took us children to McDonald’s and to the park so we had a lot of fun.  Then in the evening Nikki had to go to the institute graduation so Jess Kitsell and Sam Siswick came over to baby-sit for the rest of the evening.  This meant that Mummy and Daddy could enjoy their time at the temple with Kate & Tim and then go for a meal afterwards which they like doing.  Maybe sometimes they take advantage of the babysitters eh???

Father & Son Camp May 16, 2004

Sunday 16th May 2004
This weekend Scotty and Daddy went camping on the fathers and son camp.  They took their tent and camping stove and had a great time.  Scott was very good and stayed up late playing football and cooking with Daddy.  He was so tired that he didn’t get up till 9.30am and nearly missed breakfast he was that late.   We have put lots of pictures of us camping in the Gallery.  After Daddy and Scott got back from camping it was into the car to go up to the temple.  That was really nice to go to the temple again.  We children were very good as Nikki looked after us.  So it was a late night when we all got back.  Also this week Daddy and Mummy got some new bikes so that we can all go cycling.  Daddy has to fix them first as he got them from a friend.

Daddy starts diving & a day at the Temple March 14, 2004

Sunday 14th March 2004

Oh dear we have been very slack in writing in our diary, already nearly half of the month has gone by and we haven’t written up our diary.
Today has been a busy day, Mummy had to go to her meeting this morning before Church which meant Daddy had to get the children ready for Church.  This is the first time Mummy let him chose their clothes.  He didn’t do too badly.  At least they were all wearing their own clothes. Mostly!!! Well Emily was wearing Elizabeth’s top and Elizabeth was wearing Emily’s dress but you couldn’t tell!!!
After Church Nikki and her Mum came for Dinner and we all played for the afternoon.  In the evening Daddy and Scott went over to see Aunty Lindsay and Uncle Gary.
Yesterday we went to the temple on the ward temple day.  We had a very fun day; Leah Gilmore looked after the children while Mummy and Daddy went inside.  Afterwards we all went for a walk around the grounds and took some pictures;  It was very nice to be at the temple or the “castle” as Scott used to call it when he was little.
It’s Daddy’s fault why we haven’t written in our diary more this month. He has just started an evening course to learn how to Scuba Dive.  He has got to catch up with Mummy who has been diving for years and years and years with her Dad and sisters.  It looks like Scott though is ready to learn aswell, he tried on Aunty Kirsty’s old wetsuit and was pretending to Scuba Dive.  Hey Granddad C we think you will have to take him when he is old enough.
Mummy had a very busy start to the month, when she had to deal with a funeral of one of the sisters in the ward.  It all went well and there were no problems.  This is the sort of thing that a relief society president has to deal with.  Just a bit soon for her to have to deal with ed!

Elizabeth went to her introduction day last week at Chatterbox.  She really enjoyed the fact that it was for her and not Scott.  She really had a good time there and can’t wait to start in September.  Meanwhile Scott has been on the party scene; first it was Darcy’s party, (very important that he attend that one) and then Daniel’s and there are more parties coming up  The guy has a very busy social calendar.
Emily is still struggling with her new teeth coming through.  They are not all through yet but they are getting there… hopefully soon.
